Na een prima comeback kwam Romano Fenati vandaag als 9de over de streep. Voor de Italiaan een opluchting na de teleurstellende trainingen en kwalificatie sessie. Na een hard gevecht met Masbou, McPhee en Sissis, was het Fenati die zich steeds beter ging voelen op de FTR Honda en prima ronde tijden deed noteren. Helaas na een harde crash van Techer was er weer een rode vlag en was de wedstrijd in een keer afgelopen. Vinales pakte de winst voor Salom. De KTM’s waren weer heel snel op het circuit van Jerez. Als de race niet door de rode vlag was beeindigd had Romano zeker mee kunnen strijden voor een 5de plaats. Al met al was het een goed resultaat en kan het San Carlo Team Italia met een goed gevoel afreizen naar Le Mans waar over 2 weken de volgende race op het programma staat.

“It was a comeback race. The team and I are still working on finding the best setup for my Honda-FTR. We can still do a lot better, but being back in the Top 10 gives us confidence for Le Mans, where the goal is to do a better QP to battle at the front.”

“It was a good race. It’s unfortunate it was red-flagged because Romano could have taken advantage of the final laps as we made some changes during the WUP to this end. He could have been 5th, but this is racing. Pecco had some chattering issues, but it’s important that he’s gaining experience and improving race after race. We’ll start with this certainties in Le Mans. We still have work to do, but our method will help us to find the right balance.”
